There are several things to do in Galle, but if you venture to some of the surrounding towns, you can enjoy some unique experiences such as whale watching in Mirissa. Between November and March, these giants of the oceans congregate in the warm sapphire waters just off Mirissa. The town is considered to be the premier whale watching destination on the south coast, and during this time you will be able to spot a myriad of marine species which include sea turtles, dolphins and of course, the magnificent blue whale.
